Success stories from Community regional policy
The European Commission, DG XVI, has published a book entitled "Regional success stories - Profiles of 36 projects in Europe" which aims to demonstrate the wide range of measures supported by the Community's Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund, the principal instruments of Community regional policy. The book contains information about projects funded by the Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund, across the European Community, during the period 1989 to 1993. These demonstrate the diversity and quality of the types of projects funded. Projects selected for Community funding under the regional policies are all formulated and managed at national or local levels, and part-funded by the authorities at that level. The projects illustrated in the book (which includes contact details and funding information for each project) are divided into the following categories: - Infrastructure; - Assistance to companies; - Education and training; - Environment; - Research and development; - Local development.
