The European Commission has agreed, under the PHARE programme, two cross-border cooperation programmes involving cooperation between the Czech Republic and Germany, and between the Czech Republic and Austria. The Czech Republic/Germany programme will receive up to ECU 25 million from the Community by 31 July 1999. The programme will have seven components: cross-border road/rail links; energy supply systems; sewerage and waste systems; SME development and tourism promotion; forest regeneration; language training; and technical assistance. The Czech Republic/Austria programme will receive up to ECU 6 million from Community funding by 31 December 1998. This programme will include five components: cross-border road/rail links; sewerage and waste systems; socio-economic development of rural areas, nature and culture preservation; agriculture; and monitoring and technical assistance. Tenders for the implementation of these programmes will be published in due course.
