BIOMED research fellowships selected
The European Commission, DG XII, has selected a number of proposals for research fellowships in the framework of the specific RTD programme in the field of Biomedicine and Health (BIOMED II). The call, launched on 17 January 1995 (OJ No C 12 of 17.1.1995 p. 19), offered EU scientists research fellowships of one or two years in the field of biomedicine and health. Applications relating to areas 1, 2, 3 and 5 of the work programme had to be submitted by 1 April 1996: A total of 67 proposals were received, requesting funding of ECU 5 million. Of these, 34 were selected. The breakdown of proposals selected by programme area is: - Area 1. Pharmaceuticals research: 3 proposals; - Area 2. Research on biomedical technology and engineering: 7 proposals; - Area 3. Brain research: 15 proposals; - Area 5. Human genome research: 9 proposals.
