The European Parliament's Directorate-General for Research prepares and manages the Parliament's research programme the purpose of which is to provide expert information, analysis and options assessment to Members of the European Parliament, Parliamentary Committees and other instances of the Parliament. In 1992 a sum of ECU 1 million will be available for external research projects within the programme. About 30 projects are envisaged. In anticipation of a future Restricted Call for Tenders procedure, a register will be drawn up of organizations and individuals who express interest in being selected for research programme contracts and who have provided evidence of competence in one or more of the following areas covered by the programme: Political and institutional questions, security policy, EC budgetary matters, comparative law, citizens rights, culture and education, women's rights, social policy, employment, environment, public health, consumer protection, external economic relations, external trade, development and cooperation, the internal market, economic and monetary affairs, industrial policy, regional policy and planning, transport, energy and research, agriculture, fisheries, foodstuffs and forestry. The European Parliament reserves the right to place on the register organizations or individuals who have not submitted an expression of interest.Expressions of interest, including details of organization, areas of interest and expertise, and representative evidence of past work in the form of studies and publications, should be addressed to: Mr. Gerard Meehan Directorate-General for Research Schuman 6/66 European Parliament L-2929 Luxembourg Ensure that the words "Research Programme, DG IV, reply to the call for expressions of interest - 1992" appear on the outer envelope of reply.
