CORDIS on the Web - The complete CORDIS service now available on the World Wide Web
The successful launch of the CORDIS RTD-NEWS service on the World Wide Web, in May 1996, has paved the way for the launch of the CORDIS Web platform providing access to the complete CORDIS service via Internet. CORDIS, the Community Research and Development Information Service, provides a range of information services relating to the research and technological development (RTD) activities of the European Union. The service includes nine separate databases each providing a distinct information resource: - NEWS: A daily update on all EU RTD-related issues, available in English, French and German; - PROGRAMMES: A repertory of Community-funded RTD-related programmes, their implementation procedures and areas of funding; - PROJECTS: Information on EU-funded research projects; - RESULTS: Access to information on exploitable research results and technology offers; - PUBLICATIONS: Publications, studies, reports and scientific papers pertaining to EU-funded research activities; - PARTNERS: A partner-search service aimed at helping organizations identify suitable partners for collaboration or participation in EU projects; - CONTACTS: A listing of official contact points providing information, assistance or advice on EU RTD-related matters; - COMDOCUMENTS: Key EU RTD-related policy documents; - ACRONYMS: A compact dictionary of EU RTD-related acronyms and abbreviations. By accessing the CORDIS WWW site (http://cordis.europa.eu(opens in new window)) the European research community can now consult all the CORDIS databases through a single, easy-to-use channel. The new CORDIS Web platform notably provides easy "point and click" access and global searching and multiple selection indexes allowing greater flexibility and accuracy. The addition of all the CORDIS databases to the already extensive services offered on the CORDIS Web server (Document Library, Programme Home Pages, Irish Presidency Home Page, Fifth Framework Programme, links to related sites, etc.), make the CORDIS site a unique EU RTD information resource.
