European Pulp and Paper Research
A book of abstracts of papers presented at the European Conference on Pulp and Paper Research, held in Stockholm, Sweden on 9-11 October 1996, has been published by STFI, the Swedish Pulp and Paper Research Institute. The conference, which was supported by the Agro-industrial Research Unit in DG XII of the European Commission, provided a forum for discussion on the latest developments in research in the pulp and paper industries in Europe. The conference sessions included a detailed review of pulp and paper research in EC specific RTD programmes (including FOREST, AIR, FAIR, Environment and Climate and BRITE/EURAM) and in COST cooperative research projects. In addition, challenges facing the industry, and in particular research in the sector, were discussed. Papers presented at the conference included a number of reports from research projects in the following areas: - Pulp production and paper-making; - Tools for pulp and paper research; - Recycling, reuse and environmental aspects; - Biotechnology; - LCA (life cycle assessments) - Methods and practical use.
