The European Information Technology Observatory (EITO) yearbook is a major source of information on the latest developments on the European information technology market. The 1996 edition of EITO, EITO'96, contains 370 pages of statistics and information of interest to all those wanting to follow the latest trends in European computer and telecommunications hardware, software and services. EITO'96 provides an overview of emergent trends and a country by country analysis by product area. It contains over 200 tables of detailed data and 120 figures and graphs. Contents include: - European Commission and industry viewpoints on information and communications technology (ICT) in Europe; - An overview of the ICT market in Europe and analysis of key technological trends and standards; - An overview of new network services and applications within the context of the emerging Information Society; - A look at the ICT market in Europe's banking and financial services; - Analysis of the evolution of ICT distribution channels in Europe. EITO is supported by the European Commission (DG III) and by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Its members include the European Association of Manufacturers of Business Machines and Information Technology Industry (EUROBIT), the European Telecommunications and Professional Electronics Industry (ECTEL), and the CeBIT, SIMO TCI and SMAU trade fairs.
