NewsPAD - portable multimedia
NewsPAD is the result of a project funded by the Community's specific RTD programme in the field of Information Technologies (ESPRIT), which developed a portable multimedia viewer. Funded under the Open Microprocessor Systems Initiative of the ESPRIT programme, NewsPAD is a small, lightweight portable multimedia viewer, roughly the size of an A4 sheet of paper. This viewer can display all types of electronically-published documents, including full-motion video with sound. The user can personally select items of interest, effectively giving them a customized newspaper. Control by the user is entirely by touching the screen. The NewsPAD is now ready for mass production.
