Enlarging the environment
The European Commission, DG XI, has launched a new newsletter, entitled "Enlarging the environment", which aims to cover developments in EU environmental law and policy and in the approximation process in the ten associated countries. The newsletter is primarily aimed at authorities involved in the approximation process, and at NGOs and other interested parties in the associated countries. In order to ensure maximum distribution of the information, the newsletter will be available both in a paper version and on the Internet. In addition, a telephone help-line has been established, to provide access to further information on particular issues. The first issue of the newsletter contains a review of environmental legislation adopted in 1996, and details of forthcoming developments in environmental policy in 1997. In particular, this includes meetings and conferences concerned with environmental policy in the Central and Eastern European countries.
