The European Commission, DG XII, has published an invitation to tender relating to the provision of consultancy services to assist with the development and technical and economic assessment of projects completed within the JOULE II specific RTD programme in the field of non-nuclear energy (1992-1994). Under the supervision of the Commission's departments, the successful applicant will be required to help the latter assess intermediary and final reports, visit project coordinators, continue with the ex-post assessment of project results, and take part in initial, intermediary and final meetings within the context of the assessment exercise. The invitation to tender is divided into eight lots corresponding to the following sub-areas of the JOULE II programme: - Lot 1) Analysis of energetics strategies, modelling and optimization in industry; - Lot 2) Fossil fuel; - Lot 3) Systems of energy production and wind-power energy; - Lot 4) Solar energy and optimization in construction; - Lot 5) Biomass and combustion optimization; - Lot 6) Photovoltaic systems and renewable rural energy; - Lot 7) Geothermics, geology and renewable energy for developing countries; - Lot 8) Optimization of fuel cells and batteries for electric vehicles. The service is to be performed essentially on the tenderer's premises with a certain amount of travel within the European Union. Tenders may be for one or several of the eight lots. The workload varies from one lot to another. Further details are supplied in the tender documents issued on request.
