A workshop on "Standards, measurements and testing for solid waste management" is to be held in Pau, France, from 5 to 7 May 1997. The workshop is being organized within the framework of the Community's specific RTD programme in the field of Standards, Measurements and Testing (SMT).

The workshop programme will address topics such as:

- Field measurements and screening tests for waste analysis;
- Rapid techniques for physico-chemical characterization;
- Elaborated measurement techniques for decision-making;
- Modelling, expert systems and data-basis;
- Standards and quality control procedures.

The organizers have now closed the list of participants, but a number of papers presented at the conference may be obtained from the organizers following the event.
