In a Decision dated 3 February 1992 (92/133/EEC) on the conclusion of bilateral Cooperation Agreements between the EEC and the Republic of Iceland and the Kingdom of Sweden respectively on research and development in the field of the environment: Science and technology for environmental protection (STEP) and European programme on climatology and natural hazards (EPOCH), the Council of the European Communities approves these Agreements on behalf of the Community. The text of each Agreement is appended to the Decision. Research areas covered by the STEP programme (1989-1993) include: Environment and human health; assessment of risks associated with chemicals; atmospheric processes and air quality; water quality; soil and groundwater protection; ecosystem research; protection and conservation of the European cultural heritage; technologies for environmental protection; major technological hazards and fire safety. Areas covered by the EPOCH programme (1989-1993) comprise: Past climates and climate change; climate processes and models; climate impacts and climate-related hazards; seismic hazard. The financial contributions for association to the Community programmes shall be: Iceland, ECU 74,182 (STEP), ECU 38,165 (EPOCH); Sweden, ECU 2,520,480 (STEP), ECU 1,296,769 (EPOCH).
