The European Commission's Telematics Applications programme has published a list of software products developed by projects funded under the Libraries sector of the programme. The products, many of which are available as shareware or freeware, have been developed to assist in library automation. The products may be retrieved directly through the World Wide Web, although no guarantees are offered by the Commission or the developers, since these products are still in development. Examples of available software products include: - ARCA: enables simple updating of on-line catalogues (OPACs); - CASELIBRARY: allows library staff to establish tailored user-interfaces; - CoBRA: facilitates character set standardization; - EUROPAGATE: provides wide access to on-line catalogues; - HELEN: transliteration software to convert from Greek to Latin characters; - HYPERLIB: hypertext on-line access to catalogues; - SOCKER: common interface for different on-line catalogues; - SR TARGET PARAGON: WWW access to sound archive catalogues; - USEMARCON: converts catalogue records into different formats.
