The European Chemical Bureau, part of the JRC's Environment Institute, has published a "User Manual" for the EUSES (European Union System for the Evaluation of Substances) computer programme. The EUSES programme is designed to be a decision-support system for the evaluation of the risks of substances to man and the environment. The development of EUSES was commissioned by the European Commission, the Netherlands Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment, the UK Department of the Environment, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, the German Environment Department, and the Swedish Chemicals Inspectorate. The EUSES system is fully described in the EUSES documentation and is based on the EU Technical Guidance Documents for risk assessment of new and existing substances.
