Managing knowledge for network innovation
The software developed by the project team is designed to enable the management of processes, resources and competences in a way that supports innovation. At its heart is a flexible knowledge database that can be used to enter and record information and knowledge acquired or used during the implementation of a project. The database is structured so as to allow easy storage, search and retrieval of information related to other modules of the innovation management system, such as the assessment module ProSecCoDiagnose, or the toolkit ProSecCoKIT. Principally, however, it is built around two methodological frameworks, called ProSecCoMethods. For each of the methodological frameworks the software provides guidance and workflow for the processes, tasks and knowledge required. The database allows structured organisation of this information, along with the necessary tools and methods for the tasks, as well as case-based illustrative examples. The database and web-based user interface is provided by ProSecCo NewCo, an entity set up by the project partners to exploit the developed technology, using an Application Service Provider model. This means that hosting and maintaining the complex software is a burden that does not fall on the small companies and commercial units that wish to use it.
