Environmental rehabilitation of Lake Koronia (Greece)
The European Commission, DG XVI, has published a restricted invitation to tender relating to the environmental rehabilitation of Lake Koronia in the Thessaloniki area of Greece. The successful tenderer will be required to draw up a master plan of the studies, activities and measures to be taken in the various sectors (industrial, urban and agricultural) in order to salvage Lake Koronia by restoring the ecological balance of the lake and its surroundings. They will subsequently coordinate and monitor activities, settled upon within the framework of the master plan, in addition to implementing them for a three-year period. A quarterly report setting out the activities carried out will be sent to the Commission and regional authorities during this period. The tenderer will work jointly with the local and regional Greek authorities, in particular with the prefecture of Thessaloniki, in order to conclude and/or coordinate the proposed activities and measures and to ensure the integration of the plan and the studies put forward into a regional management plan. The tenderer shall have multidisciplinary technical expertise in the field of the environment. Knowledge of the Greek, French and/or English languages is essential in order to carry out the task effectively.
