Inspecting the manufacturing industry online A new software package has been designed for online, non-destructive inspection and quality control of goods and parts in industrial production lines. Digital Economy © PhotoDisc The software package is made up of various segments, which cover the specific test functions and techniques used. It also addresses workstation control, X-ray radioscopy, image processing, vibration analysis and data fusion. Software sets up an interface between raw data gathered from the workstation and the database and passes it on to INSA for image processing and initial data gathering. Additionally, the intermediate findings are kept in the database for future reporting as well as pattern development recognition. Ementing this software package in production plants is advantageous in many ways. Some of these include reducing scrap rate, increasing probability of detecting defects and decreasing inspection costs while increasing customer assurance in the potential of process control. Inspection process is continuous and can update the results, findings and evaluations of the images accordingly. The fundamental construction and method of this design can be expanded in the future to include additional proficiencies such as ultrasonic and magnetic techniques. This will enable the extension of the application's scope.
