Recycling technologies, treatment of waste and contaminated sites
The proceedings of a workshop on recycling technologies, treatment of waste and contaminated sites have recently been published. The workshop was organized by the European Community's Environment and Climate programme and Preussag AG in Hanover, Germany, in May 1996 The workshop was a continuation of a series held in previous years. However, in contrast to earlier events, it established links between scientists working in the inter-related research areas with partly overlapping interests, such as life-cycle assessment, recycling, treatment of waste and problems relating to contaminated sites. Papers contained in the proceedings presented Environment and Climate-funded projects in the following areas: - Life-cycle assessment and recycling; - Recycling; - Treatment of waste; - Emissions from landfill sites; - Physical/chemical treatment of waste; - Thermal treatment of waste; - Microbiological treatment of waste; - Contaminated sites; - Measurement and transport of pollutants; - Degradation of pollutants; - Remediation.
