Fellow Member to the Innovation Relay Centres - Latvia
The official inauguration of the FEMIRC-Latvia (Fellow Member to the Innovation Relay Centres) took place on 20 May 1997. Established with financial support from the European Commission (INCO-COPERNICUS), the aim of the FEMIRC-Latvia is to improve the integration of the Latvian research and industry sectors with European Union R&D activities. Services to be provided by the Centre will include: - Provision of information and advice on Community RTD programmes and opportunities to respond to calls for proposals; - Use of electronic networking and electronically accessible databases; - Provision of assistance for the submission of proposals to Community RTD programmes; - Provision of information to interested organizations in the EU about RTD potential in Latvia; - Awareness actions on innovation and technology transfer; - Assistance and advice on technology transfer; - Training on technology marketing and exploitation of RTD; - Assistance to local companies in the definition of their technology requirements; - Activities to inform Latvian society about the principles of the Global Information Society. The partner organizations of FEMIRC-Latvia are the Latvian Technological Centre (LTC), the Latvian Academy of Sciences and the Latvian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The VDI/VDE Technologiezentrum Informationstechnik GmbH (Germany) is the "Twin Partner" of the Centre, offering advice and support in the starting-up phase. FEMIRC-Latvia works in cooperation with the Latvian governmental institutions. Its activities cover all of the territory of Latvia.
