Commission funding for waste water disposal project in Spain
The European Commission has approved the award of ECU 18 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for the first stage of a complete sewerage project for Santander Bay, Spain. The Community funding represents 70% of the costs of the first stage, which involves installing a sewerage system to collect industrial and municipal waste water from the town of Santander and two neighbouring municipalities. The project has been planned for some 11 years, and will benefit a region of around 270,000 inhabitants.
