Copyright relating to satellite broadcasting and cable retransmission: ESC Opinion
The Economic and Social Committee, meeting on 26 February 1992, adopted an Opinion on the Commission's proposal for a Council Directive on the coordination of certain rules concerning copyright and neighbouring rights applicable to satellite broadcasting and cable retransmission (COM(91) 276). The ESC approves the Commission's aim to establish a Community policy which will encourage artistic creation and provide creators with a high level of legal, economic and moral protection. However, the Opinion examines in detail a number of Articles of the proposal and questions their legislative precision. In several cases, corrections or additions to the text are also put forward.
