The European Commission, DG XVII, has published an invitation to tender for the completion of a study on energy analyses and forecasts. The objective of the study will be: - To identify and work on generic EU-wide issues important for future energy policy with particular emphasis on: . Strategic energy policy responses to the climate change process, instruments, evaluation of response strategies to climate change with regard to competitiveness and cost; . The dynamics of changing energy markets (liberalization); - To maintain and expand modelling capacity for analysing energy trends and scenarios in all Member States in a comparable and uniform way; - To ensure the conceptual coherence and consistency of the results through a wide dissemination and participation of expertise from the Member States and to add value by integrating existing national prospective expertise to create shared bases for analysis at Member State and Community level. The study starts in 1998 and lasts 18 months. Interim reports will be provided every six months.
