The most recent edition of RTD Info, published by the European Commission, DG XII, focuses on Community policies for international cooperation in the research field. The main instrument for cooperation is the specific programme for International Cooperation (INCO), part of the Fourth Framework Programme. The feature highlights a number of projects supported by the INCO programme which address the programme's target groups: - COST, EUREKA and international organizations; - The Central and Eastern European countries and the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union; - Developing countries, including the Mediterranean partner countries; - Non-European industrialized countries. Recent developments in relations with these groups of countries are outlined, in particular in respect of the preparations for EU enlargement to the Central European countries. The Commission's initial proposals for international cooperation activities under the Fifth Framework Programme are also addressed. The international cooperation feature concludes with a list of contact points for further information on the sectors of the INCO programme and on other international cooperation initiatives in the field of science and research.
