Research support for radiation dosimetry
A project titled 'Joint research on various types of radiation dosimeters' (RADDOS) was established with EU funding to improve the quality of dosimeter research at three collaborating institutions. They are the Tyndall National Institute (TNI-UCC) in Ireland, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Serbia's University of Nis (EF-NISS), and Slovenia's Institute Josef Stefan (EPP-IJS). The project has allowed for academic exchanges, the recruitment of new researchers, and the organisation of a conference on dosimetry research. Particular emphasis was also placed on enhancing the research output and scientific human potential of EF-NISS and EPP-IJS. A number of researchers participated in two-way exchanges between the three institutions. In addition, new researchers and new equipment have been acquired at EF-NISS and EPP-IJS in order to advance research output. Research into radiation dosimetry has the potential for many commercial and scientific advances and RADDOS has been central to supporting further activities in this field.
