The IPTS Report - October 1997
The Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre has published the October 1997 issue of "The IPTS Report". "The IPTS Report" is designed to disseminate information about scientific and technological issues which are of interest to policy-makers, but are as yet little known. It is published by the IPTS in conjunction with the European Science and Technology Observatory network (ESTO), a network of 14 organizations throughout the EU which assist the Institute in its technology watch activities. The latest issue contains articles on the use of wastewater for irrigation and accompanying public health concerns; trends in combinatorial chemistry; collaboration on food safety R&D; joint implementation strategies for greenhouse gas emissions; and the take-up of smart structures and materials.
