MEET - Multimedia and Environmental Education and Training
Partly funded by DG XI of the European Commission, the aim of the recently completed MEET (Multimedia and Environmental Education and Training) project was to contribute to the promotion of the use of multimedia in environmental education in Europe by carrying out a systematic survey of current provisions in this field in secondary schools across the EU. The project, coordinated by Prof. Walter Leal Filho at the Institute of Environmental Communication of the University of Lueneburg, Germany, involved 14 European countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxemburg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom). Following the initial survey, experiences from European countries in the field of multimedia were documented and contact (electronic) addresses of people and institutions active in the field of environmental education were recorded in an index. Finally, on the basis of the trends and provisions recorded in the execution of the project, as well as on the basis of the needs identified, recommendations for further action - including suggestions on the possible preparation of materials - were made.
