Improving environmental information in Europe and beyond
Cooperation between the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has been further expanded and extended under the terms of a new Memorandum of Understanding signed on 23 October 1997. The ongoing cooperation between EEA and UNEP is aimed at improving the efficiency of both organizations, thus providing an improved information base for environmental decision making in the European region, including both Central and Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean area. In this context, the two organizations will support the capacity of countries to manage and exchange information on the environment.
