Workshop on Regional Foresight, 3-4 March 2003, Ljubljana
The workshop will provide participants with practical methods on how to implement Foresight activities, will present examples of regions that have successfully implemented Foresight processes, and will provide information on the support that regions may obtain from the European Commission to implement regional Foresight exercises. Due to rapid developments in Science and Technology (S&T), innovation actors need to detect relevant signals early in order to assess the risks and opportunities caused by S&T breakthroughs. Foresight, which can be described as the process to improve thinking, debating and shaping the future, has become a relevant tool to assist successful investment in innovation. While some activities in this field have been carried out in Europe at national level, not many regions have so far been able to benefit from the potential offered by Foresight in addressing specific regional strategic interests. Regional Foresight can play a catalytic role for establishing a regional strategic vision capable of suggesting improvement in the regional innovation systems. ,For further information on this event, please go to,http://www.innovating-regions.org/network/events/displayEvents.cfm?eve_id=131
