IURISTIC: A new ITC- related legal service for SME's
The current development of technologies and applications based on computer sciences and telecommunications is giving rise to new forms of activity, new businesses and even fundamental changes in living habits and social inter-relations. E-commerce, on-line and off-line multimedia applications, e-banking and teleactivities (teletraining, telework, telemedicine, etc.) are substituting the traditional way these same jobs are normally carried out, thus creating other needs, such as on-line certification, systems aimed at network protection and privacy, certigying authorities, etc. This system has suddenly given rise to new legal situations characterised by their close connection to technological aspects, and which therefore depend on the rapid changes experienced by Information Technologies and Communications (ITC's). The main objectives of IURISTIC are: 1. To provide specialised training for technical-legal specialists and for content creating business professionals, operators, security systems, etc.,2. To constitute and dynamically maintain technical-legal references as a state-of-the-art repository of know-how in these circles, providing this information to the professional community and public in general via telematic access and services.,3. To back the national industry regarding legal and technical security in order to ensure that its companies are sound in these aspects.,4. To provide normalisation and regulation committees with technical advice.,5. To participate in and represent the interests of Spanish's contents industry and of our technical-legal community at congresses, international forums, technical workshops, etc. The promoters of IURISTIC are:,GAIA, Asociación de industrias de las Tecnologías Electrónicas y de la Información del País Vasco y Landwell Abogados y Asesores Fiscales (A correspondent law firm of PriceWaterhouseCoopers) For further information, please contact:,Jokin garatea (mailto:garatea@gaia.es),Begoña Benito (mailto:benito@gaia.es) or visit IURISTIC website (http://www.iuristic.org(se abrirá en una nueva ventana))
