Kick-off meeting for SEANCE

RENAEL has organized the kick-off meeting of the SAVE project SEANCE (funded by EC) in Perugia (Italy) on March 24-25, 2003

Participants will be SEANCE partners and the agencies of countries interested in establishing a national network according to the SAVE programme (e.g. RENAEL in Italy and others in Ireland, UK...).
The aim of the meeting is to define the SEANCE project activities for partners and to compare the experiences of the member's countries in order to promote the establishment of new Local Energy Agencies and new National networks of agencies.

Under the SAVE programme, the European Commission has backed the setting up of regional and local energy management agencies.,The objective of these agencies is to promote the rational use of energy and the development of local energy resources including renewables. The European Commission considers this initiative as a fundamental instrument to promote sustainable development.
In a few years over 200 agencies have been created throughout the European Union.,In December 1998 the agencies arisen from the financial supports of the SAVE II programme, drew up and signed a Paper of local, regional, european agencies for energy management at the meeting of Cork (Ireland). ,This Paper explains the guidelines, the targets, the mode of working of local and regional agencies, underlines the importance of cooperation and of net dimension for a more efficient sharing of experiences, for a better diffusion of plans and information, and to activate the proper synergies with the local, national and European institution, with the local collectivity the productive world.,The local Italian agencies, which have shared and signed the Cork Paper, established RENAEL, la Rete Nazionale Italiana delle Agenzie Energetiche Locali, in Rome in October 1999 .,
