Area frame sampling survey within the European Union
The Directorate General for Agriculture of the European Commission, DG VI, has published an invitation to tender relating to the 1998 area frame sampling survey within the European Union. Within the framework of the competitive activities of the MARS Project (Monitoring Agriculture by Remote Sensing) the crop data collected on the ground is useful to calibrate the image interpretation for area estimates, as well as serving as an independent indicator of agricultural production parameters. The 1998 ground surveys, based on the area frame sampling method, will consist of a crop survey and the collection of auxiliary information. The crop survey will be carried out on 60 predetermined sites distributed within the Member States. The Commission wishes to receive proposals referring to the implementation of this activity in 1998.
