Launch of BIOTURBINE Project, supported by the European Commission, DG TREN, within the Altener programme.

The European project BIOTURBINE ' Opportunities for Biofuel-Burning Microturbines in the European Decentralised-Generation Market' started on 1 April 2003.

Biomass-derived fuels are one of the most promising areas within the biomass sector, and power generation/combined heat and power has the greatest potential among all the other renewable energies. The main objective of the study is to assess the technical feasibility and the market potential of biofuels-burning microtubine systems for power/heating application, a short-term option to deploy innovative, efficient technology for distributed power generation, and which can contribute to the market development of biofuels in Europe. The project aims at exploring new opportunities to use liquid biofuels for distributed generation in this respect, biofuels-burning microturbine offer a unique opportunity to comply with efficiency and environmental performance. For further information please contact: ETA-Renewable Energies, Piazza Savonarola 10, Florence, Italy (Tel. +39-055-5002174 - Fax +39-055-573425 - Email: eta.fi@etaflorence.it),
