Research on lactic acid bacteria - Opportunities for Marie Curie fellowship holders
The National Food Biotechnology Centre (NFBC), University College, Cork, Ireland, is offering opportunities for research on lactic acid bacteria to potential holders of Marie Curie training fellowships (cat. 20, 30 or 40) in the Community's Biotechnology programme. The NFBC is a participant in several EU-funded projects on Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) all of which are integrated in the so called STARLAB consortium. Research carried out on LAB at the NFBC includes work aimed at increasing the understanding of bacteriophage resistance mechanisms, the molecular biology of bacteriophages, and gene regulation in LAB as a result of (changing) environmental conditions. Suitable candidates interested in working in the NFBC on the aforementioned research themes are invited to apply for a Biotechnology training grant before the next deadline of 1 March 1998. Applications should be made in conjunction with Dr. Douwe van Sinderen of the NFBC.
