Three new large-scale genomics research projects, with funding of C$16 million (about 10.5 million Euro), announced by Genome Canada and Genoma Spain

Equally co-funded by Genome Canada and Genoma España, the three genomic research projects are part of a collaborative Canada-Spain partnership designed to foster scientific and industrial cooperation in both countries. With funding of C$16 million (about 10.5 million Euro), such bilateral cooperation facilitates collaboration in EU-level R&D programs and projects. The Canadian elements of the three announced genomics projects include: - research in Atlantic Canada to identify biological factors that may improve halibut aquaculture ,- a Genome British Columbia grape genomics project to develop more disease- and pest-resistant varieties ,- Ontario research into neurological development, to identify genes implicated in mental illnesses For more information, please contact Anie Perrault (VP Communications at Genome Canada), +1 613-296-7292, Jennifer Punch (Genome Atlantic) +1 902-830-6610, or Brian Underhill (Director of Communications, Ministers Office) +1 613-996-0052.
