Parliamentary Agenda of 8-12 June 1992
The Agenda of the European Parliament for the Session of 8-12 June 1992 includes a number of topics having general bearing on RTD-related subjects: - Presentation of recommendations by the Parliamentary Special Committee set up to consider the Commission's "Delors II" proposals, inter alia calling for an increase in proposed regional and foreign policy spending, plus further funding dedicated to internal policy areas such as basic research, cross-frontier networks, alternative energy, environmental protection and vocational training. - A report on the impact of the structural funds making reference to post-Maastricht regional spending, and discussing the increase in funding proposed by the Commission over the next five years towards the elimination of regional disparities in key sectors such as training, industry, transport, telecommunications and energy. - First reading of the reexamined proposal for the legal protection of biotechnological inventions. Discussion centres on the application of patent to new crop seed. - In the context of the PHARE programme, a proposal from the REX Committee calling for Member States to negotiate investment protection agreements as a means of creating confidence in Central and Eastern European economies and encouraging further investment. - A report from the Rules Committee recommending that Parliament should comment formally on Commission Green Papers (Commission consultative documents). It is proposed that these would be submitted to Parliament by the Commission as part of the annual legislative programme.
