World renowned nanotechnology information and consultancy company to set up office in Singapore

Cientifica, a leading nanotechnology information and consultancy company, has created a Singapore based subsidiary, Cientifica Singapore Pte. Ltd. to enhance their global nanotechnology consultancy and business intelligence services in the Asia Pacific region.

The establishment of Cientifica Singapore will enable locally based companies to gain access to up-to-date information on all aspects of global nanotechnology and strengthen their commercial development of nanotechnology-based solutions. In addition, Cientifica Singapore will undertake several major Singapore based projects including: Assisting local companies and research organizations to leverage Singapore's world- class academic and manufacturing skills on the world stage;, Foster and encourage both innovation and entrepreneurship;, Establish Singapore as a regional hub for the commercialization of nanotechnology;, Organize the World Nano-Economic Congress Singapore. According to Tim Harper, CEO of Cientifica, Singapore is an obvious location for Cientifica. Its position at the trade and technological crossroads of Asia fits perfectly with the multinational and multidisciplinary nature of nanotechnology. In addition, Singapore sits at the heart of a region that has much to gain from nanotechnology, whether through manufacturing industry, or the applications of nanotechnology to natural resources, from textiles to water treatment. In the longer term, these regional technology links will become as important to Singapore as the manufacturing links to Europe, the US, Korea and Japan are now. "Singapore's established strengths in R&D, manufacturing and financial services as well as the presence of many companies that could be potential users of nanotechnology make us well-positioned as a centre where new nanotechnology-enabled applications and products can be created, test-marketed and commercially exploited, added Mr Teo Ming Kian, Chairman of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). Cientifica Singapore has organized the World Nano-Economic Congress Singapore (WNECS) in conjunction with the Global Entrepolis Singapore 2004. WNECS, which is a cooperative effort between Cientifica and EDB, aims to focus on the impact of emerging technologies upon industries in the Asian marketplace. The Singapore event, held from 13-14 October, is an extension of the successful WNEC events that have run in Washington, DC; London, UK; and Munich. The event has attracted over 100 speakers and delegates from all over the world who will be speaking the various aspects of,commercializing nanotechnology.,Cientifica is the world's largest supplier of nanotechnology information, with activities spanning from basic research, through scientific networks to consultancy, business intelligence and investment appraisals.
