COST reports on air pollution epidemiology
The COST Concerted Action in the field of air pollution epidemiology (COST 613/2), begun in 1990, has now published the reports of two working parties: - Report 1, Exposure Assessment: Methods for assessment of exposure to ambient air pollution in Europe. - Report 2, Heath Effect Assessment: Methods for assessment of the health effects of air pollution in epidemiological studies, against the background of recent developments in exposure to ambient air pollution. Rather than giving an exhaustive review of the large body of literature in this field, the reports make a summary of the essentials, providing key references for further study. They are designed to help investigators in the field to decide on research topics and methodology, and are also intended to provide funding agencies with a general framework for judging the priority and quality of research proposals in the field of air pollution epidemiology.
