Convergence in the digital age - challenges for libraries, museums and archives
The seminar will provide a unique opportunity for those interested in the fields of libraries, museums or archives to share their experiences of handling digital information and to discuss common issues and challenges. It also aims at providing new ideas for the definition of cooperation strategies for a digital environment.
The seminar will consist of six main thematic sessions, illustrated by presentations of ongoing projects:
- The organization of knowledge in a digital environment;
- Citizens' access to digital heritage;
- New services in their legal context;
- The future of the digital present;
- Converging technologies and standards for digital collections;
- Strategic issues in research and technological development.
At the IFLA General Conference itself, the Libraries sector will have a stand at which the sector's activities and projects will be presented.
