The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is arranging its third Trends Analysis workshop within the framework of the STAR initiative, on 29 and 30 June 1998 in Senlis, north of Paris, France. The theme of the workshop will be "Standardization-related research for computer-aided integration in manufacturing".

During the workshop, an overview of trends in, and needs of, pre-normative research and standardization in product and production data-modelling, as well as in system architecture and enterprise-modelling will be given. Based on this overview, future needs for pre-normative research and standardization in this field will be discussed and defined. The workshop will produce a summary with clearly defined topics for pre-normative research and standardization.

The workshop is intended for those with a view of the trends and needs of development in this area, representing industry, research institutes, universities, standardization bodies and the European Community.
