Workshop: Negotiating FP6 Research Contracts
NEGOTIATING FP6 RESEARCH CONTRACTS - Friday 30 January 2004
This workshop provides an overview of the contract negotiation process. It will help administrators and managers to progress swiftly and effectively from the Commissions Evaluation Summary Report and Framework for Negotiation to a signed contract, while providing a firm foundation for the efficient administration of the project.
Negotiation with the Commission is unlike a normal business negotiation. In reality, consortia must follow the Commissions procedures and comply with their demands, often in extremely short time frames. But agreements reached here will have a major influence on the subsequent management and administration of the project. Mistakes and, especially, omissions made during the contract negotiation can lead to confusion and disagreement during the project. The result can be time and cost overruns, and even failure to achieve the project objectives.
The workshop is aimed at all who intend to participate in EU-funded RTD projects. This includes the financial and legal officers as well as technical managers who need to understand the commitments made during the contract negotiation process. The workshop will be given in English.
