Advanced study course on valuation methods and sustainable indicators for environmental change

An advanced study course on valuation methods and sustainable indicators for environmental change will be held in San Miniato, Italy, from 29 August to 5 September 1998. The course is sponsored by the European Commission, DG XII, within the framework of the Environment and Climate research programme.

The course is designed to present state-of-the-art methods and instruments in the valuation of sustainability and environmental change to students and researchers in the field of environmental science. The main topics to covered include:

- Fundamentals and approach to sustainability;
- Policy analysis and sustainable development;
- Physical and chemical-based sustainability indicators;
- Evaluation methods and willingness to pay;
- Socio-economic indicators;
- Materials accounting;
- Life cycle analysis methods.
