Nanotube Quality: The New Barrier to Adoption

The event will take place in Vienna on 28th and 29th October 2004.

28 October 2004 - 29 October 2004
Austria
There are an increasing number of global producers of carbon nanotubes and nanofibres coupled with new applications being generated across all fields, from electronics to composite materials. The availability of carbon nanotubes is becoming less of a barrier to their widespread adoption; quality standards are becoming the new bottleneck.
Based on feedback from producers and consumers alike, The European NanoBusiness Association in association with the Austrian Research Promotion Agency is bringing together all parties, from producers to end users, and from academics to metrology providers, in order to better understand the barriers to commercialisation, and roadmap the path towards common standards in carbon nanotubes.
The aim of this initial meeting is to understand the issues faced by producers and consumers, and to identify common themes where a global consensus can be built leading to the adoption of common standards. Issues already raised include quality control, metrology, and terminology. It is expected that more will be raised during the meeting.
The outcome of this meeting will be a document reflecting the consensus of all participants and highlighting the issues that have potential to become bottlenecks in the adoption and application of carbon nanotubes and nanofibres. It is expected that this document will form the basis for future road mapping and standardisation, projects.,
