Geographic information systems and the Fifth RTD Framework Programme

A seminar on geographic information systems (GIS) and the EU's forthcoming Fifth RTD Framework Programme will take place in Münster Hiltrup, Germany, on 7 July 1998. The event is organized by Zenit, the Innovation Relay Centre for Nordrhein Westfalen, and the Open GIS Consortium.
The day will focus on European Union activities which support GIS, in particular the opportunities which will be opened up when the Fifth Framework Programme comes on-stream. The morning sessions will present the work of the Open GIS Consortium, including a presentation of the GIPSIE project, funded by the EU. In the afternoon, a representative of the European Commission, DG XIII, will outline the opportunities available under the INFO2000 programme and the Fifth Framework Programme. This will be followed by a presentation of the facilities offered by ZENIT, the IRC, for participants in EU programmes.
