INET'98 - Internet Society annual conference

The eighth annual Internet Society conference (INET'98) is to be held from 20 to 24 July 1998, in Geneva, Switzerland. Attended by Internet professionals from around the world and led by internationally recognized authorities, it will deal with some of the major current debates and offer a perspective of the Net which is both focused and global.
INET'98 is organized and run by the Internet Society, set up in 1992 to serve as a clearing house for information and education on the Internet, while facilitating and coordinating Internet-related activities. INET'98 brings together, under one roof, the whole spectrum of people and sectors involved with the Internet on a daily and intensive basis. It will allow them to exchange experiences, share information, and plan the developments which will shape the future. The conference will address both the constant evolution of technology and its growing assimilation by society.
This year's conference will cover a broad range of topics related to Internet implications, including e-commerce, technological developments and new applications. It will doubtless arouse much debate regarding crucial governance and regulation items such as the domain name issue, along with other "hot topics" to be addressed through presentations of papers, plenary sessions, panels and seminars, organized around eight conference tracks or themes.
