The fourth EUROLAB workshop will be held in Delft, The Netherlands, on 25 and 26 June 1998. The workshop will be organized under the auspices of the European Organization for Testing and Certification (EOTC) and will address the question "Accreditation and/or certification?".

The aim of the workshop is to provide a forum for the exchange of experience on accreditation, certification and the combination of systems for laboratories. It will focus on the dissemination of practical experience from laboratories through presentations, panel discussions and informal meetings. These will be led by representatives from industry and public authorities, who will explain their policy on accreditation and certification.

The main issues to be addressed during the conference include:

- The organization of joint assessments by two different third parties;
- The most cost-effective way of complying with market and regulatory requirements;
- The cost-effective maintenance of multiple accreditation;
- Combining ISO 9000 certification system and accreditation;
- The best strategy for multi-disciplinary laboratories.
