UKOLUG'98, the eighth annual conference of the UK On-line User Group (UKOLUG), will be held in Manchester, United Kingdom, from 14 to 16 July 1998. The conference will receive support under the Libraries sector of the EU's Telematics Applications research programme.

The conference will address the theme "New networks, old information", and will examine both current and future issues related to information technology (IT). Topics to be covered during the conference will include the following:

- Advances in IT during the last 20 years;
- Growth of the information industry;
- Government plans and teledemocracy;
- Industry and research directions;
- Services for the disadvantaged;
- Information security management;
- Telecommunications and legal issues.
