Conference on Systems Biology of Mammalian Cells (SBMC)

The Conference on Systems Biology of Mammalian Cells (SBMC), dedicated to Systems Biology of mammalian cells, will take place at the Convention Center, Heidelberg, Germany on 12-14 July 2006.

12 Julio 2006 - 12 Julio 2006
Germany
Cellular behaviour and cell fate decisions are the result of the coordinated activation and deactivation of multiple signaling pathways.

Following genomic sequencing - one of the challenges now facing Systems Biologists - is to quantitatively understand the complex interactions giving rise to the purposeful behaviour of mammalian cells based on mathematical modeling.

Targets are for example to explain the cross-talk of signaling pathways by mathematical models, and to understand the process by which interactions between transcription factors and their target sequences in DNA result in complex cellular responses.

A proper understanding of mammalian cell behaviour requires bridging of disciplines and the collaboration of life scientists, mathematicians, physicists, chemists, engineers and computer scientists.

The event is organized by HepatoSys, the Federal German research initiative for Systems Biology of hepatocytes and partly funded through the German Federal Government´s Programme “Biotechnology - using and shaping its opportunities”
