An international conference on electric and hybrid vehicles will be held in Brussels, Belgium, from 30 September to 3 October 1998, jointly organised by the European Electric Road Vehicle Association and the European Commission, DG XII. The event will comprise both a symposium and exhibition, and an EU research and development day, where all EU projects linked with electric and hybrid vehicles will have the opportunity to meet and present their results.

The symposium will cover scientific, technological and social issues in the following areas:

- Electric and hybrid vehicles;
- Energy usage covering applications such as motors, controllers and drive trains;
- Energy storage covering applications such as batteries, non-ferrous metals, fuel cells;
- Energy sources in particular charges and infrastructure;
- Vehicle demonstration and deployment programmes;
- Non-technical aspects such as political, regulatory, environmental and economic issues.

The exhibition will feature a large choice of electric vehicles, both commercial and prototypes, a state-of-the-art collection of electric vehicles components and an overview of organisations and institutions active in the promotion of electric vehicles.
