ONLINE EDUCA - Technology supported learning

The fourth "ONLINE EDUCA Berlin" international conference on technology supported learning will be held in Berlin, Germany, on 3 and 4 December 1998. The conference, which aims to provide a meeting place for the international community of users, researchers, service providers and managers in the field of technology supported learning, will be jointly supported by DG XIII and DG XXII of the European Commission.

The conference this year will be built around a number of themes:

- Finding and managing scaleable online solutions for both the corporate training and university sectors;
- European SMEs: Using technology supported learning as part of an integrated and innovative IT structure;
- Satellite delivery of data and images in the technology supported learning environment;
- Video-conferencing and other developments which contribute to making virtual university a reality;
- Setting up and managing distance learning programmes utilising ICT for the corporate sector;
- Adapting content and training trainers for new learning environments;
- Leading edge developments and innovations contributing to life long learning in the European Information Society.

The conference will be organised into a series of plenary and parallel sessions, expert panels and special interest groups. In addition, a number of pre-conference workshops will run for a limited number of participants and will include a day long tutorial session for newcomers to the field of technology supported learning. An exhibition and demonstration area for manufacturers, suppliers and service providers of communications technology, software and electronic services will be open throughout the conference.
