European Commission DG Research funded 30 projects on the Mobility priority this year in June, with the aim of promoting researchers’ role in science and society. Four projects are under development in Italy, proposing for the 22nd of September a wide range of interesting and exciting activities to the public. In the city of Frascati, the “Night of Research” will unveil the mystery of national research labs, where common people will be invited to discover science and try to be researchers for a night or for a life, as target public are kids and youths.
The city of Naples will see a 3D reconstruction of the Vesuvius eruption thanks to the most innovative technologies.
In Puglia Region, radio broadcasting will introduce and guide citizens in their scientific tour.
In Piedmont, three cities (Turin, Alessandria and Vercelli) will offer interactive games, experiences and prototypes to test, bringing researchers to the main squares and around the city centres.
Despite the programmes for the Italian “Researchers’ Night” are well shaped on the regional dimension of research and on specific excellences, the two common elements driving the events of the 22nd of September are: music as soundtrack for all the projects, and passion which has animated researchers and professors in giving a soul to this open and public appointment with the research and its results. Thanks to these two common elements, the Italian Consortia decided to cooperate in spreading information and in setting up a common tool of communication: a web page has been launched and a joint press release has been published on Thursday 15th.
